The Distinctive Dress Code

Student dress is a visual representation of our school’s culture. As a school seeking to support student individuality, identity and growth, we choose to not require students to follow a uniform dress code. Instead, all students are expected to be dressed and groomed in a manner that will not be disruptive to the educational process and is respectful of the purpose of school and those around them. If any of your child’s clothing items or accessories becomes a distraction or violates any of the above, they will not be able to wear the items. This will be under administrative discretion and the principal will have final approval.

Minimum Requirements:

Clothing must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit, down to approximately 3 to 4 inches in length on the upper thighs.
Tops must have shoulder straps.
Rips or tears in clothing should be no more than 3 to 4 inches in length.
Shoes must be worn at all times and should be safe for the school environment (pajamas,open toed shoes, bedroom shoes or slippers shall not be worn, except for school activities approved by school administration).
See-through or mesh garments must not be worn without appropriate coverage underneath that meets the minimum requirements of the dress code.
Headgear including hats and caps are not allowed unless permitted for religious, medical, or other reasons by school administration.

Additional Requirements:

Clothing may not depict, imply, advertise, or advocate the following:

illegal, violent, or lewd conduct, weapons, or the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana or other controlled substances
pornography, nudity, or sexual acts.or imply vulgar, discriminatory, or obscene language or images.
hate speech/imagery targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, or any other protected classification.

Sunglasses may not be worn inside the building.
Clothing and accessories that endanger student or staff safety may not be worn.
Apparel, jewelry, accessories, tattoos, or manner of grooming that, by virtue of its color, arrangement, trademark or any other attribute, denotes membership in a gang that advocates illegal or disruptive behavior is prohibited.

The administration at the school reserves the right to determine what constitutes appropriate dress. Students who do not adhere to these guidelines will not be allowed to attend class. Families will be called if appropriate clothing is not available or the student refuses dress-code appropriate clothing.

Dress Down and/or Non-Uniform Days

At certain times throughout the school year, students may be able to participate in dress down/out of uniform days. Certain guidelines will be sent home for these days. If a student is not dressed appropriately, their parents/guardian will be required to bring a change of clothes to school and students may lose the privilege to participate in future dress down days.

La vestimenta de los estudiantes es una representación visual de la cultura de nuestra escuela. Como escuela que busca apoyar la individualidad, la identidad y el crecimiento de los estudiantes, optamos por no exigir que los estudiantes sigan un código de vestimenta uniforme. En cambio, se espera que todos los estudiantes estén vestidos y arreglados de una manera que no interrumpa el proceso educativo y sea respetuoso con el propósito de la escuela y de quienes los rodean. Si cualquier artículo de la ropa o accesorios de su hijo se convierte en una distracción o viola cualquiera de los anteriores, no podrá usar los artículos. Esto quedará bajo la discreción administrativa y el director tendrá la aprobación final.

Requisitos Mínimos:

La ropa debe cubrir áreas desde una axila hasta la otra axila, hasta aproximadamente 3 a 4 pulgadas de largo en la parte superior de los muslos.
Las blusas deben tener tirantes en los hombros.
Las roturas o rasgaduras en la ropa no deben tener más de 3 a 4 pulgadas de largo.
Los zapatos deben usarse en todo momento y deben ser seguros para el ambiente escolar (pijamas, zapatos abiertos, zapatos de dormitorio o pantuflas no deben ser usados, excepto para actividades escolares aprobadas por la administración escolar).
No se deben usar prendas transparentes o de malla sin una cobertura adecuada debajo que cumpla con los requisitos mínimos del código de vestimenta.
No se permite el uso de sombreros y gorras, a menos que la administración escolar lo permita por razones religiosas, médicas o de otro tipo.

Requisitos Adicionales:

La ropa no puede representar, implicar, publicitar o defender lo siguiente:

Conducta ilegal, violenta o lasciva, armas o el uso de alcohol, tabaco, marihuana u otras sustancias controladas,
pornografía, desnudez o actos sexuales. O implicar lenguaje o imágenes vulgares, discriminatorias u obscenas.
discursos o imágenes o de odio dirigidos a grupos por motivos de raza, etnia, género, orientación sexual, identidad de género, afiliación religiosa o cualquier otra clasificación protegida.

No se permite el uso de gafas de sol dentro del edificio.
No se puede usar ropa y accesorios que pongan en peligro la seguridad de los estudiantes o del personal.
Se prohíbe la ropa, las joyas, los accesorios, los tatuajes o la forma de arreglarse que, en virtud de su color, arreglo, marca registrada o cualquier otro atributo, denote membresía en una pandilla que defienda el comportamiento ilegal o perturbador.

La administración de la escuela se reserva el derecho de determinar qué constituye la vestimenta adecuada. Los estudiantes que no se adhieran a estas pautas no podrán asistir a clases. Se llamará a las familias si no hay ropa adecuada disponible o si el estudiante se niega a usar ropa apropiada según el código de vestimenta.

Días de Vestimenta Informal y / o Sin Uniforme

En ciertos momentos durante el año escolar, los estudiantes pueden participar en días de vestimenta informal o sin uniforme. Ciertas pautas se enviarán a casa para estos días. Si un estudiante no se viste apropiadamente, sus padres / tutores deberán traer una muda de ropa a la escuela y los estudiantes pueden perder el privilegio de participar en futuros días de vestimenta informal.
